Paul Nowak began his martial arts training in 1996 under Vladimir Vasilieve in the Russian martial art of Systema. Paul trained under private direction with Vladimir for one year.

Paul began his career in 1980 with the Toronto Conservation Authority during which time he became a Law Enforcement Officer (1997).

In 2003, Paul accepted a position on secondment in the Investigation and Enforcement Branch of the Ministry of Environment where he was responsible for investigating offences under the Environmental Protection Act.

Upon completion of his secondment in 2004, Paul returned to the Toronto Conservation Authority and resumed his position in the Enforcement Division where his duties often resulted in his working independently with little if no available backup. Due to these working conditions he has received specialized training in various areas of defensive tactics.

Paul continued his training in martial arts to further diversify his skill level. He has studied in five different styles focusing on combat arts, pressure point techniques and the manipulation of the body’s energy.

In 2005 Paul started a company called Defensive Edge - Martial Arts and Personal Protection Systems. The following list describes Paul’s training.
