EDGED WEAPONS
A one-day seminar, focusing on knife defenses against common attacks. Various
static drills are used to develop skills starting by deflecting the attack, to
control and takedown techniques. Training then incorporates the use of a strobe
light to develop automatic responses. The seminar concludes with students taking

scenario relating to edged weapons. Training includes knife to hand and
knife-to-knife techniques.
Program Outline:
1. Knife sabre grip versus reverse grip
2. Body movements, centre line concepts, technique simplicity and reduced
reaction time
3. Weapon parry, securing the weapon, trapping and weapon avoidance/control
4. Defense from close weapon at front, side and rear
5. Defense from close weapon combined with grabs at rear and front
6. Disarming using reflex points.
